THE EAGLE MAN PROJECT
The Eagle Man Project is an independent exploration, research, and documentation project dedicated to the study of Steppe Eagle migration, one of the most iconic and least documented long-distance flyers in the natural world.
The main protagonist of the project is Maverik, a Steppe Eagle trained for free flight and for shared flight with a human. After a dedicated and progressive training path, Maverik flies alongside me while I travel using a powered paraglider, following natural routes, air currents, and real atmospheric conditions.
I am David “The Eagle Man”, a professional falconer and animal trainer. For over twenty years, I have worked with birds of prey and other animals, combining technical expertise, ethological respect, and direct observation of natural behavior.
The goal of the project is ambitious and unprecedented:
to complete a round-the-world flight journey, in stages, observing and documenting the eagle’s behavior across different environments, studying movement patterns, adaptation, and migratory dynamics.
This is not about forcing an animal to follow a route.
The eagle flies by choice, in freedom, according to its abilities and timing.
